well tanan courses naa man advantages and disadvantages.. nahan man gani ko ug accounting kay daghan man hiring sa accounting.. ang naka lingaw lang sa IE is more on Operations Research.. approaching management quantitatively and qualitatively..
sa tanan IE kinsa man ang naka sulay na ug take sa exam..
unsa man ang usual mangawas nga exam? hatag sad mo tips..
you can be placed in a lot of positions of IE ka.. you can be in manufacturing, QE, PrE . . naa sad basic cost and advanced accounting sa IE so partly you can be a bookeeper.. hehe..
mas diverse lang ang IE compared to Accounting IMHO.. = ) IE ko.. haha. batch 2008
kinsa man ang nahan mo take ug board karong nov. 21, 2010

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CIE CERTIFICATION
What is CIE?
CIE stands for Certified Industrial Engineering. CIE is the designation for associate practice.
The CIE applies a general breadth of knowledge to analysis and evaluation. He should exhibit the
minimum standards of competency for Industrial Engineering practice. The scope of practice for
the CIE is limited to the use of commonly accepted tools and techniques for the analysis and
enhancement of performance in existing systems.
What are the requirements for CIE Certification?
You need to be an active PIIE member, a Filipino or naturalized Filipino citizen and must have a
bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from CHED-recognized school or university with and
accredited BSIE program or an internationally accredited program. Most importantly, you need to
pass the CIE written examination on IE Core Knowledge.
The following documents are also required by IECB to process your application:
a filled-out Application Form and one (1) photocopy
certified true-copy of the applicant’s official transcript of undergraduate and graduate
records (if applicable)
two (2) colored 2” x 2” size ID pictures
certified true-copy of birth certificate from NSO
two (2) photocopies of marriage certificate (for married women)
Wait, I'm not yet a member of PIIE?
If you are not yet a PIIE member you can contact the PIIE secretariat for application details.
Alternatively, we have set-up our office to be a one-stop shop for both PIIE membership and PIIE
certification application so PIIE non-members can conveniently apply for both.
Wait. I just graduated from college or just about to, what if I can’t secure a
certified true copy of my transcript of records or diploma?
Get a certification from your school registrar that you are a bonafide graduate of BSIE.
How do I apply?
You can get a copy of the application forms at the IECB secretariat office. You can also download
the forms from our website. Accomplish the application form, submit all the other required
documents and pay the application fee. You will be then given an exam permit that you need to
bring for the exam.
Please visit the following link for general application details.
I live in a province far from Metro Manila, how do I submit my application
and pay for the application fee?
You can send us the accomplished application forms and the required documents via mail. You
can deposit your payment through our bank account and mail the deposit slip (along with the
application form and other documents) to our office. The exam permit and official receipt will be
mailed back to you. Note that IECB also accepts PIIE memberships and renewals.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CIE EXAM
What is the CIE Exam?
The CIE Exam is the test requirement for the CIE Certification.
What is the coverage?
The exam covers both professional IE courses and non-professional technical courses. The
coverage was based on the newly-approved curriculum by CHED for BSIE. You can find the nonprofessional
coverage of the exam here and the professional coverage here.
What is the cut-off grade to pass the CIE Exam?
What sort of questions does the CIE have?
The CIE Exam has multiple-choice questions only. You will be asked to bring pencils so you can
shade little circles or squares. The checking of answer sheets will be done via a machine
scanning device.
Is there an essay portion?
No.
Are the items right-minus-wrong?
No.
Is there a section in Filipino?
No.
What will I need to bring?
You need to bring a #2 pencil, your exam permit, the official receipt issued to you, your PIIE ID
(NO ID, NO EXAM) and a scientific calculator.
Are we allowed to bring scratch paper and calculators to the CIE Exam?
Scratch paper will be provided. Only scientific calculators are allowed. Use of programmable
calculators will forfeit your application and disqualify you from taking any PIIE certification for life.
Can I bring snacks?
You may, but you can take them only during the break.
Will the you be providing review centers for the exam?
No. As the certifying body for the CIE exam, we cannot sponsor nor endorse
any review centers.
You may coordinate with the PIIE Secretariat for inquiries regarding review
centers.
APPLICATION DECISIONS
How will I know that I was accepted?
Decisions will be posted on the IECB website on July 2008.
Yey! I was accepted! What next?
Congratulations. You are now a certified IE. Follow registration procedure and set schedule for
the oath-taking.
OH NO! I wasn’t accepted!
You can always try next year.
QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PIE CERTIFICATION
What is the Professional Industrial Engineer Certification?
The Professional Industrial Engineer (PIE) or Level 2 certification is the designation for
professional practice. The PIE applies and develops methodologies for analyzing, designing,
testing, and evaluating systems.
The professional practitioner addresses complex problems and advances industrial engineering
technologies and methods in his/her area of specialization, involving (but not limited to): Areas of
Specialization: Production & Manufacturing Systems, Operations Research, Human Factors and
Ergonomics, and Quality Engineering among others.
The certification is renewable every three years.
What are the requirements for PIE Certification?
To qualify for the PIE certification, the applicant must be/have:
Filipino citizen/ naturalized (NSO certified)
CIE + masters degree + 2 years experience OR CIE + 5 years experience
Testimonial of major IE work experience
Passing score in PIE Exam
The following documents are also required by IECB to process your
application:
a filled-out Application Form and one (1) photocopy
certified true-copy of the applicant’s official transcript of undergraduate
and graduate records (if applicable)
two (2) colored 2” x 2” size ID pictures
certified true-copy of birth certificate from NSO
two (2) photocopies of marriage certificate (for married women)
How do I apply for the PIE certification?
The certification board is currently offering a special procedure called the grandfather rule for PIE
applicants. The rule will waive the need to obtain a CIE certification first and the PIE exam. Read
below for more details.
QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PIE EXAMINATION
QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PIE APPLICATION
UNDER THE GRANDFATHER RULE
What is the Grandfather Rule?
The Grandfather Rule (GFR) is a special procedure that applicants of the PIE or Level 2
certification applicants can avail that will only entail the applicants to submit certain required
documents and obtain at least 50 points in the Grandfather Rule Self-assessment Test.
The GFR is a special rule aimed to invite the more experienced professional IEs who otherwise
have no time to review or prepare for the certification exams.
Note that this is neither a special level of certification nor another level of certification.
How were the sources of points for the Grandfather Rule Self-assessment
test (GFR-SAT) determined?
The sources of points were determined using a hierarchy developed by the certification board.
The hierarchy can be divided into three levels: (1) membership in PIIE or an IE related
organization; (2) IE related professional and technical activities; and (3) contribution to society
from the practice of industrial engineering.
In general the certification board places an emphasis on the practice of Industrial Engineering (IE)
of the applicant with regards to the GFR-SAT. After all, this is a certifying body for individuals in
the active profession of Industrial Engineering. The participations and outputs from the practice of
IE are weighed tantamount to their level of acknowledgement (on a local, national or international
level), level of responsibility (membership, officership, supervisory or managerial) and level of
participation (as a minor or major proponent).
The certification board primarily recognizes the participation of the applicant in organizational
activities relating to the practice of IE. This emphasis was brought about by the nature of the
certification as an internal activity of the PIIE. However, to accommodate non-members who are
interested to apply for the certification, organizational activities were not limited to the applicants’
participation with PIIE but also may include IE related activities from other organizations such as
PQM or ORSP.
Activities from practicing IE may come from different sources. Professional outputs such as
company projects, which the applicant is a major proponent, are considered. Technical papers
submitted to national and international conferences and journals are also recognized by the
certification board. Engagement in a technical or company research project are also counted by
the board as sources of points, providing they are in relation to the practice of IE. Activities arising
from the practice of other profession will not be honored by the certification board.
Last, but not the least, the certification board looks at the applicants’ contribution to the society
through their practice of IE. Contributions to the society may be a product of the applicants’
participation in an organizational activity, a professional or technical output arising from the
conduct of the practice of IE including those that were sanctioned by their employers, or
exemplary acknowledgement of the applicants’ IE related work or project duly recognized by an
awarding body.
How long will the IECB offer the GFR?
It is only offered until December 31, 2007.
What are the requirements for the PIE application under the Grandfather
rule?
To qualify for the PIE certification, the applicant must be/have:
10 year of professional experience after BSIE
• Active PIIE member
• Filipino citizen/ naturalized (NSO certified)
• Endorsement from 1 PIIE member (in active status) & 1 PIIE Board
• A minimum score of 50 points in the in the GFR-SAT
