    Default 550D or 50D

Hi guys =) I'm getting a new dslr maybe next month or this june and I'm eyeing on the new 550D and 50D.

To all canon users please do help me evaluate and do give your justified answers regard the two cameras. Thanks

i would strongly suggest the 50D Sir, Unless you need the Video function on your SLR but you will find yourself not using the video function as you get deeper in the hobby.

if you are a newbie in photography, the 550D would be your choice since its an entry level dslr. by the time you master how to use the dslr and want to learn more features about the camera, then you can get the semi pro level dslr which is where the 50D is categorized. but im sure by the time you get to know your 550D and want to try the semi pro level dslr, the 60D would then be on the market. (lets just consider you have learned the 550D with video and what if the 60D has the video features of the 550D rather than get the 50D without video)

i know the dslr is more suited for still photography in which i really vouch for but who knows, dslr video might be the future of videography too.

    my 2 cents.

550d if you have the budget. but, better just get a 1000D first, and invest on a good lens. after a few months, you can just sell your entry level cam and buy a semi pro one.

if you can afford 50D then buy 50D...

Even if you're a noob in photography, get a 50D. It still has the scene modes found in entry-level bodies PLUS a semi-pro body AND semi-pro functions (buttons).

Just make sure to use good glass with this body. It's well-known that due to its sensor design, it demands a lot on optics. You might want to collect L lenses first before going with this body.
