Default EU ban on airlines from the Philippines

The government’s lax enforcement of aviation safety rules has prompted the European Commission (EC) to ban Philippine carriers from flying to the 27 member states of the European Union (EU).

The ban is not expected to have an immediate impact since there has been no commercial flight by Philippine-registered carriers to Europe since 1999.

Aviation officials vowed to speed up reforms and stressed that Philippine carriers meet safety standards.

EU Ambassador Alistair MacDonald said that while the EC acknowledged recent efforts by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to reform the civil aviation system in the country, enforcement of safety standards remained inadequate.

so they mean to say that EU has more stringent safety standards than the rest of the world as
some of our carriers are already serving international flights including the U.S.A.

Fine, but then how can they ban someone who is actually not using your airspace and airports? :P

My neighbors in Barangay Sambag I dream of flying direct from Cebu all the way to Amsterdam or Rome.

Has there ever been a Cebu-direct-to-Europe flight before?

Since when did someone have to use something to be forbidden from using it beforehand?

they just want our airports to buy those naked scanners, and guess who predominantly manufactures those scanners?

Yes, because those naked scanners are actually in use. It's not because the Philippines has security standards so low that they don't want airlines coming in from the Philippines ... but because Europe wants the Philippines to buy "naked scanners".
