Network config suggestion needed...

Guys,

We have 15 computers in the office,

any suggestions on how i should connect it in the network?

I have a 16 port Switch and a Modem/router for Internet

Group A

6 - computers, - Network only no internet (operating a database sharing)

Group B

9 all networked (5 -needs internet, 4 should not have internet access)


can anyone give a suggestion on how i should interconnect the computers using 1 switch and giving internet access only to the 5 computers. Also how can i make sure that virus and worms from the internet will not spread over the network.

also please not that the Modem/router is directly connected to the Switch.

Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

first kinhanglan the same inyo workgroup aron magkit-anay sa network, butangi ug ip address ang tagsa tagsa ka mga units, e unchek ang auto detect settings sa katong mga pcs nga dili nimo butangan ug internet kung kuwang ka ug slot sa imo mga pc sa switch buy new 8 ports switch aron maka konek tanan

what i am planning to do is to put IP address in all PC, one subnet...

but i will only put gateway address(modem ip address) on the PC that needs Internet access.

my question is, are the other PC safe from WORMS/TROJANS/VIRUSes?

All PC's are not secure especially exposed to internet unless you install Anti Virus/Anti Spam/Firewall and etc.

try DHCP bai.. aron dili maglabad imo ulo butang ug IP.. nya auto obtain imo pc..

probs sa static ip kay usahay mag.conflict...

considering all computers are on the same network, any flood or broadcast due to worms or trojans would affect every member pc. you can get rid of this by installing AV and FW to every pc.

I suggest you install DeepFreeze if you worry about people messing with the computers. goto faronics.com and read more about deepfreeze.

hi kun mag lisod gani ka sa assigned IP ad obtained nalang kay pang advance user ang mag assigne ug IP make sure nga ang workgroup pareha aron mag kita tanan PC... ahehe.. simple lang enjoy sa tips of the day ^_^ kun maglisod gyud ka kuha nalang ug mo network ana aron human dayon... like me or enjoy it..
