JOOMLA is an opensource system, parameters are necessary to define different modules of the system.
by your question.., it could mean that you are not into studying real behaviors of the PHP and programming related.

You are using PHP, of course it is necessary to see those long URL to make system WORK.

To answer your question, there is a feature in JOOMLA about Search engine FRIENDLY URL. Of course, it is necessary to give set of command HTACCESS (apache command) most opensource systems requires that. JOOMLA will attempt to "change" the look of URL, but the Apache command will try to decode it as if as it was a folder(or shorter URL) but running the same thing.

With the use of mod_rewrite it's possible, and yeah I believe naa na built-in feature ang Joomla na makabuhat ana. Just mess with the config or the admin panel bro.
