If you are into photography, you are probably familiar with CCD and CMOS based silicon sensors. Now, a new way of sensing light has been achieved with a Quantum Dot based material as an image sensor. Quantum dots are very small nanocrystalline semiconducotor particles that can have tunable absorption or emission spectra depending on its size. They are found in numerous applications in cell biology, lasers, quantum optics, and many more. Now, it appears that quantum dots are making its way the imaging industry.
