can i use a socket AM2+ on a AM2 motherboard?
i read some article saying that AM3 and AM2+ processors can be plugged on a AM2 socket motherboards... is this true?

AMD confirmed that there is an upgrade path from Socket AM2+ to AM3:
- AM3 processors work on AM2+ motherboards due to the presence of both the DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller
- AM2+ processors do not work on AM3 motherboards due to the processor's lack of a DDR3 memory controller
The pin configuration of the AM2+ socket (940 pins)[2] is mechanically different from the AM3 socket (941 pins)[2]

Yup, but that depends per brand/manufacturer. Check the manufacturer's site for compatibility just to be sure.i read some article saying that AM3 and AM2+ processors can be plugged on a AM2 socket motherboards... is this true?

sir, ECS motherboard, just forgot the model...then it has a DDR2 memory socket... pci-e vcard + am2 socket cpu

Akong MSI mobo ky am2 pero nai bios update na para maka use kog am2+.. hehe. Tan.aw sa mga BIOS updates sa ECS na site. Basin nai update cla para maka am2+.
