This is a very interesting statement, because it amplifies what people misunderstand about science.

Science is a set of tools.

With these tools, you DON'T EVEN NEED FRIGGIN' SCIENTISTS to understand if a principle is possible or not--if you have the means, you can TEST OUT THE HYPOTHESIS YOURSELF (sorry nalang if wala ka'y kwarta or resources, but seriously, ANYONE who has any decent science training can test out any hypothesis available out there...science born out of a need to empower EVERYONE on the planet, not just a select few).

Eto kasi ang problema nga karamihan dito eh. The word "scientist" seems to have a LOT of WEIGHT, in the sense that, when some famous "scientist" says so-and-so (or worse, when a famous evangelist says so-and-so, or much much worse, when a famous politician says so-and-so) TO-O-HAN DAYON tungod lang sa popularity (bandwagon effect) and degree-dropping! Ay purbida!. When the fact is, it's just a WORD--anyone who practices the scientific method properly and accurately is a scientist.

Again, do not forget. Science is a tool. If you can use a hammer, you can use science, and figure out things on your own.

You've got to wonder, how would a shift in mass along the poles (i.e. melting ice caps) affect the planet's axis?

while I was reading this, I remembered last night in discovery channel about the speed of rotation of the earth, as well as how the moon was created and how close the moon was from the earth...

as far as I've seen last night, the hour per day before was 6 hours. Year, said by narrator, was constant as it rotate around the sun, but hours/day was changing.. around 4 billion years ago, maybe million.. medyo dili clear ang sulti sa narrator and I was sleepy...
