The i3 is hyperthreaded so better in multi-tasking and in operations that take advantage of multi-core/multi-thread CPUs. The i3 also has an integrated GPU. It should be faster, cooler and less iyang power consumption.

For dual CPU and single CPU optimized applications/operations, I would still bet on the i3 530.

if you're tight on the budget and an existing s775 user, u may wanna consider the E7400, if budget isn't a problem go with the newer i3.

    what is your current set-up?

yea. gamay ra difference from my computation.
2.5k ra. im leaning towards corei3 because i have an extra 1gb ddr3 and 500gb hdd.
so makasave pa ko 6k. planning to buy by the way, was thinking more on corei3 or save 2.5k.

    2.5k mobo + 5k cpu for core2duo
    vs
    5k for mobo + 5k cpu for corei3

    i3 530 is better.

pero tanawa pod ang prices sa mobo kay ang sa e7400 around 2k cheapest mobo; ang sa i3 around 4.5k ang mga mobo

    Basig makatabang ni nga review

AnandTech: Choosing the Best H55/H57 Motherboard, Part 2

Unsurprisingly, the ASRock H55M-Pro, Gigabyte H55M-USB3 and the ASUS P7H55D-M Evo are the three boards we feel most comfortable recommending. Get one of these three, flash it to the latest BIOS, and you should be in for a trouble/frustration-free ride.
