I get OP's question. It's simple, Portable Apps give you mobility and accessibility of applications. I appreciate the pirates and some devs for doing this and I'm half-hearted on this one.
For example, back when I was studying in college, computers in college have restrictions like installing important applications. I can't use my legit Adobe Fireworks(well, screw dreamweaver. I can easily code with notepad/notepad++) in school because I'm gonna need privileges to install it. So I shamelessly got a copy of a portable Fireworks and I can do my work almost anywhere without worrying on priviledges.
The only problem is that it takes time to load, limited functionality, app gets corrupted and its gone, troubleshooting is a pain and many other that I haven't mentioned (if there are any).
However with installed apps, the advantages are the disadvantages of portable apps only in the negation. The same goes with the disadvantages with installed apps. It's a double-sided sword but pick your bidding.
ahh so portable apps are only good for portability? abi nkog pwd ma himo ug substitute sa installed apps para d mag clog up ang registry.
Madala.dala gud nimu bsan asa ang portable apps pero delikado lang kun matakdan virus sa laing computer. Mahimu na jud ka anang virus carrier.
