    Default 2010 Kia Sorento Info

    Hi!

Would like to gather some info on the 2010 Sorento.

    1. Kinsa nakapalit diri! Feedback? Comments? KM/LITER?

    2. Did you trade in? What did you offer and how much did you get for it?

    3. Worth it?

    4. Any news on the diesel engine?

    5. Is the 2.4 engine the same as the 2.4 on the new Tucson 4x4 varriant?

    6. Is it now safe to buy a Sorento? (2008 models and below were reported to have Diesel problems...)

    A little news:

I was able to test drive a 4x2 unit the other day. Ride was not bad. Car REALLY does share the same platform as the Santa Fe. It is very evident in the interior. Except for the instrument panel and more spacious design, it is a Santa Fe. Specially when you see the AC vent positions for the 2nd and 3rd row you will really think its a Santa Fe.

However, ride wise, the Santa Fe edges out the Kia. The car handles city driving well and seems to have a perky engine. Not bad for a 2.4 engine. Overall its a nice car.

Salesman said there is a chance diesel will be available by feb to april... walay sure...

I own a Kia Sorento 2005, so far no problems with my ride, and what was the problem did you hear about btw? Though what I have heard are the horror stories encountered by owners of Innova/ Fortuner/ Hilux - List of Toyota D4D Probems (Choking, Hard Starting, etc.) - Tsikot Philippines 2010.

    - old diesel sorento's could not take the dirty diesel fuel we have in the philippines. the fuel injector would cause problems.

    Hi ckice,

Actually that's true but it's not just peculiar with the Old Sorento, however a remedy there, is to shorten the replacement schedule of your fuel filter from typical 40k to 20k.. If I am not mistaken a service advisory has already been issued on this by Kia Philippines. Comparing it to the D4D engine of the Toyota, it has more problems encountered than the Sorento..

Mine is a CRDI and I am on my 50k run already and going 5 years this April, other than the usual cost of preventive/ routine maintenance (change oil, filter etc), the only repair/ replacement that I went through was the brakemaster which gave way last Christmas.

Really looking forward to buying the new Diesel, but it really is expensive (overpriced) and as of the moment is not currently released.

OT: most of these problems are from D4D's purchased 2005 and below. 2006 and above wala problem. the reason is with the D4D's fuel pump and fuel filter. our diesel here is dirty thats why machoke ang engine.

that seems to be a common problem among early common rail engines. i think its the same problem with the 1st generation crd engines from isuzu... trooper in particular.

    Default crdi problem

i am a toyota fort05 owner, so far wa ko ka experience ug ingon ana nga problem. pwera buyag lng... what i did kay i seldom put DMP(disel mileage power) diesel fuel additives b4 fueling. it improves the acceleration of your engine because of higher combustion mas nindot ug sunog ang diesel and limpyo pa imong injection pump. i usually do this kanang padong ko long distance trip. plus regular cleaning sa imong air filter. you can feel the power of your engine. ive been using this for 3 yrs. alrdy.
