Philippine Stagers Foundation in cooperation with the Benigno S. Aquino Foundation (BSAF) through its I Am Ninoy Campaign presents a grand musicale in order to humanize our modern-day hero. Billed as “Ako si Ninoy”, this Filipino Musicale will give life to Ninoy as he co-relates his life to various ordinary Filipinos. The core message of the stage musical is the selfless giving of oneself for our countrymen and women and for the advancement of our country as a whole. Indeed, there is a Ninoy in all of us and heroism can also be accomplished through ordinary ways.

“AKO SI NINOY” is PSF’s biggest project to date. Aliw Awardee Vincent Tañada writes the libretto and directs the play. ABS-CBN’s Musical Director, Pipo Cifra composes and arranges the music accompanied by the UST Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Prof. Herminigildo Ranera. Production Management is by Jeffrey Ambrosio, Marketing Management by Christian Lim, Stage Management and Choreography by John San Antonio, Lights Design by Art Gabrentina, Costume Design by Emy Tañada and featuring more than forty homegrown cast members led by Kierwin Larena, Cindy Liper, Patrick Libao, Monique Azereda, Chin Ortega, Jordan Ladra, Cherry Bagtas, Allison Gonzales, Miel Reysantos, Tere Tajan, Aliw Awards Finalist Glory Anne Nacional, Alex Dorola, Jomar Bautista, Anne Gonzales and Gabby Bautista.

I watched it last night at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. Below's my thought:

"Ako si Ninoy (A Filipino Musicale)" is an eye-breaking play which unfreezes the hero within you. As i pondered on it deeper, it's not just about who Ninoy was, but how an individual in all walks of life can be as heroic - and can be a driver of change - in this seemingly corrupt and inhumane society. A thumbs-up for this! Great work of art!

I even thought at first that the play has some color of politics in it for the candidacy of Noynoy. But i was wrong. It's just a mere portrayal of how a present-day Filipino can help build (or should i say rebuild?) this country through actions, and not just words. Yeah, the present-day acts on the play was compared to Ninoy's life back then.

"Sino ba si Ninoy?", is an echoing question throughout the duration of the performance. Ultimately, i hope that the people in the hall realized that there's a Ninoy within them. Not the Ninoy as the person, but the heroic acts that Ninoy showed. So if i say that there's a Ninoy within me, it should be understood as 'There's a hero within me'.

Urejiak is ryt at 1st i thought it is for noynoy but dili di ai... wa jud cla gi mention about noynoy's candidacy or anything about it... giportray ra jud nla nga each of one of us has his/her own ninoy within us, den nice jud nila pag portray ni Cory A when she had her oath as president....
