Internet Cafe - need advise

guys, kung kinsa ma'y daghan ug gamay na knowledge on how to setup internet cafe, post ra diri. essentially, i really need info on this matter gyud kay ang akong cousin, nagpatabang nako.

mao ni akong concerns:

1. what networking-related equipments do you need to setup an internet cafe with only 6-PC, for starter? and what brand?
2. Regarding genuine Windows XP Professional, do you need to buy 1 for every PC or you can install it on several PCs'?
3. do i really need a server PC?

mao ra tingali na. gawas sa specs kay socket 939 AMD 3000+ man ang gamiton, then depende sa budget, radeon 9550GT or GF6600 na vidcard.

m ok when it comes to desktop, but not on a whole network of desktops. kaya magpatabang gyud ko.

as for the videocard theres i havent seen any 9550GT ont he market so im not sure about its performance,But if your going for powercolor brand Axisglobal has given 2 years of warranty for them so make sure e hatag 2years warranty sad sa imong card ( for ATI ) as for invidia, Inno3d has 2 years warranty.

mao ba na? gecube man tingali ning brand na 9550Gt version. cge, powercolor lang ko na brand kay kasuway nako ingani before sa akong 9500pro. PM lang ko nimo sa akong gi-huna huna na specs.

about the budget, $3000 yung estimate namin sa 6 PC, not including the server. we still dont know how many to add. depende pa na sa income. it could be either 939 or 754 amd64. wa pay klaro sa mobo, basta cost-effective ra.

1. you need a switch to share the internet connectivity. most cafes do use the standard switch and not just the pocket size hub. The former offers better performance than the latter. As for the port density, it would depend on the max number of pc you will deploy. You can either have a 12, 24 or 48 port switch.

You also need the cabling component to interconnect the pcs.

Above all you need internet connection. Request from your ISP that your CPE should be a DSL router/modem so you wont need to buy an extra router.

2. As for the OS, you need one per computer if its OEM.

3. Server. Yes if you will run an accounting software for your cafe.

dili na tingali kinahanglan ug server kay manual lang muna, then add lang if ok ang operation.

ok naba athlon64 or pwede rin intel, yung 511 model 2.88ghz?

by the way, dali ra ba ang pag-configure ingana kay wa gyud ko'y knowledge sa networking. adept ko sa basic desktop, even overclocking, pero way ayo sa networking

dali raman jud na bai... kay 6 rmanan kaha na ka pc.... nya di pa man na kinahanglan ug server kay gamay rman na, unya nalan gmo pag server kong mu abot nana ug 20 ka workstation, 6 ra.. e setup lang sa na ninyo ug workgroup, nya ang mga modem ron sa mga ISP router naman na daan, so inig plug ninyo sa inyong mga pc nana nay internet. sayon ra kaayo na bai oi...

start with AMD(barato), at least 512MB RAM, 80 gig(OL games always update), and at least 128MB video card.
i have that rig 1 year na and all units runs the same. pwede ra walay server kay gamay ra man. for more assistance, attend sa sa ICAC seminar before you start aron mahibaw an sab nimo kung ok pa ba mag iCAFE diri sa Cebu^^

what video card can u recommend for this? can i start with a board that has nvidia 6100 or ATI express built-in, then upgrade lang ko later?
