    @etgo: NIC=network interface card/Ethernet Card/LAN Card

    your work may not have been in vain. it doesn't necessarily mean that the cable is bad. i've experienced this in my previous work and sometimes when connecting with laptop using crosscable. try doing this:

    1,2 go to device manager and right click on your NIC and click properties and proceed to step 3

    --or--

    1 right click on your Local Area Connection and click properties
    2 click on the configure button (for your NIC)
    3 click on the advanced tab
    4 you should see an option there "Speed/duplex settings"-- click on it. probably the default value is Full autonegotiation. Change it to either Force 100 Full Duplex or Force 100 Half Duplex and see which works for you best.

    If that doesnt work.. try a known good cable :mrgreen:
