CAPITOL consultant on security Byron Garcia blew his top on a news crew for allegedly sowing intrigues at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).
The CCTN news crew was pursuing a tip from a bus driver that Garcia, overall-in-charge of the CSBT, was favoring Ceres buses over others.
The crew then sought Garcia for comment, but the latter got mad and said that the crew was just trying to stir a controversy.
A Sun Rays bus dispatcher was even confronted for allegedly spreading false news. The dispatcher was poked by Garcia with a microphone, which he was using, and then tapped on the shoulder.
The dispatcher, said the CCTN news team, was not the same person who said that Garcia is favoring Ceres.
Preference
In an interview with Sun.Star Cebu, Garcia denied he was favoring Ceres. He said that the public favors the bus line, saying that 60 percent of passengers prefer Ceres than any other bus line.
He said that he was merely training the security guards who are in-charge of the implementation of the system. The new system in the terminal is in preparation for All Saints and All Souls Days, when the CSBT is expected to be filled with passengers.
While the old system involved giving passengers priority numbers, Garcia implemented the new system that will assign seats to passengers. Passengers with assigned seats at the back will be boarded first.
The system was launched last Saturday.
Training
Garcia was doing the training in all bays, including that which is occupied by Ceres or Sun Rays. He explained that he gets caught up in the Ceres area a lot because it is where majority of the passengers are, as evidenced in the manifesto.
Garcia even asked the chief dispatcher of Sun Rays bus liner, Gualberto Miramon, to be interviewed with Sun.Star Cebu to prove that the consultant is not into choosing favorites.
Miramon said there was no problem with how Garcia handled the CSBT.
Garcia believes the intrigue was started by the minibus drivers.
In an interview with ABS-CBN news crew, some of the passengers said like the new system because it allows peaceful boarding and prevents tugging of seats. On the other hand, some passengers believe the system is too slow.
