    Default ATI Radeon 5850/5870/x2 Buyers guide read!

    ATI Radeon 5850/5870/x2 Buyers guide read!

    At the moment there is no need to choose which brands to choose for you 58xx~ Powercolor, XFX, Palit, Gainward, MSI, Sapphire, etc.
    Because all of them use the same referenced cooling, you will have to wait for 1 month or more for new cooling systems like Sapphire's Vapor-X/Atomic-X.

    5850 and 5870 should be available now!

    If you are planning to buy a 5850/5870/x2, please check the measurements of your case if the 5850/5870/x2 can fit properly inside, if not you might have to buy a new case which is a very big problem indeed, or mod something inside!

    5850 is 24cm
    5850x2 is 28cm
    5870 is 27cm
    5870x2 is 30cm

    Also lastly don't forget to check your power supply if it can handle the needed watts for the 5870. If not you'll have a problem even turning on the computer.

    5850 = 170 watts max full load.
    5850x2 = 340 watts max full load.
    5870 = 188 watts max full load.
    5870x2 = 376 watts max full load.

    have fun with your 58xx

    one last thing

    Nvidia may have batman, but ATi has the batmobile.

    Relax, it was a joke meant for nvidia fanatics If its not funny im sorry
    I also own lots of nvidia cards, why would i want nvidia to die lol. Just find people too Gullable for it, yes competition is great, but ATI is not NVIDIA.

    Even if Nvidia could release its GT3xx cards now, it would already be hard to sell them if ATI sells there 58xx series at good prices.

    Even thou there's no competition with 58xx series, ATI is still giving them very nice prices 5870x2 is coming next week, even the stated SRP prices wer dropped for the 58xx series~

    ATI set to redefine the mainstream market next week

    When AMD planned the pricing structure of its 5000 series, the company planned to see ATI Radeon HD 5850 being originally priced at $299 and 5870 taking the $399. Radeon 5870 Eyefinity Edition with 2GB of memory would follow at $499, while dual-GPU Radeon HD 5850X2 would cost approximately the same. ATI Radeon HD 5870X2, top-of-all tops as far as 5800 series is considered - was planned at $599 bracket.

    However, when AMD launched the ATI Radeon HD 5800 series, 5850 was moved down to $259.99, while HD 5870 was moved down to $389.99, with some manufacturers even going down to $379.99 range...

    Not to sound fanboy-ish but it looks like ATI might have the entire DX11 market saturated before the GT300's flagship part even hits shelves...

    It's amazing that even with the lack of direct competition, ATI is still keeping prices reasonable(thus far anyway).
    ati's prices are pretty well the highest we'll pay for them, and actually pay for them.

    they don't want them so low that they don't make as much money as they could, but don't want them so high that nobody buys them. the balance needs to be just right.

    they've identified market segments (in dollar terms), identified just how much revenue comes from each & in turn made sure they have a significantly better performing product than nvidia in every one whilst still having the performance low enough that they sell the cards at a decent markup.
    babolgam: it should fit with antec 9xx/1200 without problems
