n96 lags behind in every aspect.. tell your friend that if he plans to buy an Nseries... skip n96.. the CPU and the memory.. its pretty darn lagging in everything.. have used the phone and truly.. its not worth buying it... You can google and check the user reviews all throughout GSMarena regarding n96's negative comments..

anyhow.. I haven't used the n97.. but most would say they're quite satisfied with it's overall performance.. just google and compare the feedbacks.. both positive and negative..

How about Sony's C905 or W995? it has 8MP camera already.. or Samsung's Omnia.. ? Is your friend fix already in the brand of phone he/she is buying..?? -only Nokia? what about the rest of the brands? there are quite a few who can raise and be at par with the N97 you know.. (*I just mentioned some above...)

Anyway, sometimes, Choosing a phone doesnt necessarily mean that you have to choose the best and the latest of them... you just have to look far more on what the phone is really worth for you.. moreover to your needs and does it meet your expectations fully well.
