because they love people.hehehe ana jud na ang golden if wala ma discpline ug tarong...
don't have a golden retriever but jumping on people is not a good sign... better train him not to do that... it is s/s of anxiety, excited and ki-at...
how old is he/she?
pila na k-months imo golden retriever bro?.. actually natural ra na nila labi nag mga pups pa mga 3-8months old nga GR.. hyperactive ni cla nga mga klac sa dog.. hamag ray gpangita ani nila prhas sa labrador.. sa akong rang gbuhat sa among gr ug lab pups kay ako cla htagan ug daily walk or unleash them sometimes sa amo garden and play fetch pra mugawas ilang excess energy. after ana i teach them simple commands like stay or sit.. make sure to make your voice firm pra maminaw gyud cla ayaw lang sad bunala kay lain na ng istoryaa samot ra na di ksabot ang iro.tsktsk. if they behave that way even for just a minute, i give them tasty treats.. In that way, mkhinay2x ng sabot imo dog nga ikaw ang amo and if he/she gets to obey sa imo command nila naa clay reward. Eventually it will become a habit nila to obey your commands even without the treats pro mas maau gyud kung naay treats coz it serves as a token of appreciation..![]()

Hi Piogolf! wow, how old is your golden? I have 3 Goldens myself and I love this breed! The reason why dogs jump on humans is being over excited to see and touch you. They want attention & affection. Yup, we want to give them the love too, but they have to be taught dog manners/obedience first.
Best way to teach your dog not to jump is using positive reinforcement. Don't ever hurt them gyud. As Seth said, use a consistent command with a firm voice.
When you arrive home and your golden jumps on any of you, don't push them away from you & touch them. AYAW GYUD SIYA HIKAPA. As I said earlier, they jump because they want to be touched by you. Malipay nuon siya kay nihikap naman ka niya (that was his/her goal). So to correct this behavior:
This is how I taught my dogs to behave. I hope it works for you too! If you see your golden about to jump,
- Step back right away (ayaw gyud sila hikapa or let their paws touch your body). Just immediately turn your back
- Don't make eye contact whatsoever & pretend wala mo kakita niya
- Don't talk or give commands yet
- Then when you step back, face your dog & just stare at your dog no matter how long it takes. Diha na ka mu eye contact niya and then say your command. Wait lang gyud until mu-calmado na siya.
- When he/she calms down and sits na, that's when you approach him/her and then say "Good Sit!" or "Good dog!", or better yet "Good (name of dog). The more specific your praises, the more ma associate sa dog kung ngano gi-rewardan siya because of that good behavior.
- In training, timing is everything. Your dog has to understand that imuha ra siya tag-dun only when he/she calms down. The minute your dog sits, immediately pat and reward your dog with your loving voice and hug. If you wait for a long time to touch him/her, basin ma confuse na siya on what it really is that he/she did right.
- Otherwise, ayaw gyud duol niya no matter kung unsa siya ka noisy and asking for your attention.
- You and your family has to do this consistently.
Dili ra ikaw ha, kailangan kamo tanan. Don't give in to touching your dog immediately just because they look cute or ma-luoy na mo niya. Wait gyud until mu sit down siya.
