Default Billons of pesos for anti graft/insurgency

Over the weekend, the government announces that the US government granted billions of pesos for counter insurgency and graft and corruption.

    I have questions.

What to do with the billions for counterinsurgency? I guess it will be used for intelligence purposes. I am afraid that this will include surveillance of people who are not necessarily members of the communist movements but nevertheless critical of the government. Im afraid that the money will be used to violate human rights of anyone perceived to be an enemy of the government.

And how about the billions of money against graft? Will the campaign include the investigation of the relatives and friends of the President who may be accused of graft?

they might as well have given us military and surveillance equipments nalang that they already have "retired" from their arsenals kay korakoton ra na sa government ang kwarta.

Ye.. naa bitaw sa news that Arroyo is setting up PHP 1 Billion to fight graft. Apparently the US government said that they will counter it with another 1 billion, which makes it a whooping PHP 2 Billion!

Pero for what? For graft? Most likely kining kwartaha mawa nasad ni... if Arroyo is serious about it, I like the idea na transparent jud. Post it on the web so that the people will know how it was spent, every peso of it...

I mean, what do you need the money for to fight graft and corruption?

The government is very much aware that there will be allegations by the opposition that these will be used for other purpose than what it is intended for, to fight the NPA rebels. However, the pronouncement of the president coupled with the movement of the troops to crush the communist insurgency only shows their sincerity to stop the NPA from destabilizing further this country.

The NPAs were our enemies since it started. Peace talks will not finally resolve the problem since the ideologies are very much parallel, they would never meet a common compromised ground.

As for the allocation of funds for the intensified drive against graft and corruption, the US government granted us $21 million to fight graft and corruption, and the Arroyo government released as a counterpart fund, P1 billion for an intensified campaign. With this, PAGC and OMB, two of the government agencies concerned with fighting against graft and corruption, are now very much prepared to crackdown corrupt public officials. Putting under surveillance these corrupt officials could already incur a lot of expenses, especially when the investigation should be discreetly done so as to find solid pieces of evidence against these corrupt officials.

incur a lot of expenses---> 2 billion pesos worth of surveillance gathering?!? well, i do accept im not an expert regarding their operating expenses... but cant we just use the money to better use? like education? infrastructure? biofuels? perhaps nuclear energy development? sheeesh... 2 billion to spy on officials... i do hope they catch one. And when they do, i hope they dont put him in house arrest in his own mansion like some people we know...

For me, all of this rewarding things are directly become subject of corrupt in itself. No one can keep track on how to spend this money. secondly why do they reward or use government money for fighting corruption, I believe that it's the work of the ombudsman, is their a need to give million or billion of people to these people. It's a wrong signal that everything that is controlling the government wrong doing it becomes a money of the government to use...

Iam not anti arroyo, I believe she's a good leader and also less corrupt than the other. Instead use those money for improvement of our education buildings, make a building for older people to live... It's a wrong propriority lang talaga....For me that is the signal that maybe arroyo make that frontline, so that she can inhibit for corruption also.....

    bro opinion lang ni......nothing personal....

nah. it was never personal bai.

ma-bewilder lang ta sa balita man gud na mao nay nanghitabo. i myself voted for Arroyo. and i am mad at her for the Garci fiasco and all her little screw-ups. But, im still supporting her all the way here.

as a good citizen, we should follow the rule of the land, but we should not follow blindly. question those that need questioning, pero di pod pasobraan. God put her there for a reason... maybe to teach us something. If some people are not happy with her, let them speak sa elections na, not on the streets. You know why? Look at 1 Peter 2: 13-17.

    God bless the Philippines!
