What Do You Think Will Happen When the Cosplay Scene Gets Big in Cebu?

I've been seeing a lot of pictures about the cosplay scene in Metro Manila, and I can't help but wonder, what will happen if the cosplay scene in Cebu becomes developed? Will there be (minor) celebrities like what became of the Gosiengfiao sisters? Will there be constant cosplay conventions where people just cosplay without even meeting each other?

That would also mean raising the bar on the quality and detail of costumes (and props).

And maybe, just maybe, people will REALLY start looking like the characters that they cosplay as.

It will be our pleasure. I can see that Cosplay in cebu is gradually incrementing.

But from how I see it, our cosplay culture here is going to evolve similarly to Manila but not entirely.

Though at the moment, it's not geared towards cosplay for the sake of fun but more or cosplay as a craft despite our limitations which will bring about fun.

Perhaps in the future, that emphasis on craft will bring about more of the crafty side of the 'play' in cosplay in the future? There is an obvious interest to learn how to do things amongs the members. But an obvious lack of resources (both material and information).

Hopefully this will be so.

But until people become less dependent/free themselves from the mercy of the mananahi, we will likely never be able to qualify for the WCS D: Dang. That's like THE epic summit/convention that crosses borders yo.

Since that competition doesn't allow you to buy/have someone else sew for you entirely and gives emphasis that YOU MADE YOUR COSTUME. XD

Not to mention, it'll be shaped by the kinds of people who are part of it.

Like... IF the community is full of attention hoes then the community's going to be cosplaying for the sake of cosplaying and being popular. IF the community is only alive so that they can compete and join competitions then conflict and tension is bound to be ablaze all through out the year.

Just what ifs mind you. I'm not saying they're true. If they are then ohshizzle. D;

Right now, we have a healthy mix of what not.

We have the attention hoes, struggling ones, elitists, competition only and private practitioners. Pretty good mix IMO. I'd like to give better figures but meh. I could get my head chopped xD;

At the moment, the community's PRETTY loosely bound and despite the smallness of it, people don't know each other or have yet to get together and schtoof. If at this rate, people are so shy/so distant, I fear what it'll be in a few years where we might not even say hi or hello or bother to know each other and just go to conventions to engage in individual glee then leave.
