    I you want to target applications in .NET, here's the differences

    VS2003 --> .NET 1.1
    VS2005 --> .NET 2.0
    VS2008 --> .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5 (+LINQ)

    Note that some of above can target lesser versions.

    The main difference is not in the IDE, its in the target platform.

    ahh i c...so i also have to install a .net 3.0 framework to install the vs2008?

    sry not really familiar with platforms...

    No, VS2008 comes with .NET 3.0 (the one that comes with Vista).

    Use VS2008 to target applications that will run on .NET 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and projects that utilizes LINQ
    Use VS2005 to target applications that will run on .NET 1.1. and 2.0 (dili pwede ang 3.0 and 3.5)

    Yup, In fact I have VS2005 and VS2008 in my PC.

    I use VS2005 since I used Windows CE Platform Builder and target device drivers for Windows CE and embedded XP.

    I use VS2008 for the rest.
