Intel To Cut Prices Up To 60%

Customers[/url] of Intel Corp. said the world's biggest computer-chip maker plans to reduce prices on Pentium processors by as much as 60 percent to reclaim market share from Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Executives at Micro-Star International Co. and Gigabyte Technology Co., two of Taiwan's biggest makers of circuit boards for computers, said Intel officials told them the price cuts will start July 23.

Intel said it will reduce prices of faster dual-core chips by about 15 percent, according to Alex Lin, a product marketing manager at Micro-Star, Taiwan's third-largest maker of motherboards, which connect electronic parts in computers. Intel also told him that it plans to lower Pentium prices by 60 percent.

CHIP FIRM AMD has kicked into price cuts today by slashing prices on 939 and AM2 sockets.

Distributor prices seen by the INQ show that the Athlon 64 3000 will cost $89, the 3200 $99, the 3500 $109, and the 3800 $139.

All socket and AM2 sockets are rebated, we understand from sources close to AMD Asia.

AMD just did a price cut now, check the prices sa Bnew Single core A64's sa Newegg ug sa ebay, tag 8k nalang gali ang SD 3700+ pero ang dual core nila wala gi cut
