What is the best proxy server software?

Hi Guys!

I need your idea or opinion about proxy server software.I used Tor software, because I couldn't access friendster, multiply, facebook, youtube, etc in my office. IT department blocked this kind of website. (I don't want to mention the name of the office...). My one of my question is that when you use proxy server/proxy server software, Does the speed of the internet becomes slow?

Please give me your comments/ideas...

Yes, proxies generally slow down internet speed. The connection is not direct on the requested site. See below.

Here's your computer:
You -> Internet -> Site

Here's your computer using proxies:
You -> Internet -> Proxy -> Internet -> Site -> Internet -> Proxy -> Internet -> You

For me, I recommend TOR.
