    depende sa situation na bay. good for you since you have background in taekwondo. check the place, enemy and what weapons they have. if you ask me if duha then use your taekwondo skills, if usa lang then ok ang ground then go with jiu jitsu. if naa weapon then ang best martial art para ana is "DAAGGAAANNNNNNN". hehheheheh

    i would rather say that it would all depend on how well do you know the art or at least mastery of some techniques. though bjj is more of a ground game i personally think that it could also be applied in a stand up fight and against multiple attackers. it would boil down to the practitioner, not the art per se.

    This of course depends on the situation and often i would agree its better to run.....

    But if we talk about Jiu-Jitsu/Ju-Jutsu as a streetwise or not....Well, my oppion is that BJJ is not good for the street (if we are talking about BJJ), since its to much groundfighting and to much groundfighting, means you most likely would go to the ground and thats not good if your opponent has friends around....

    But if you are talking more modern days Ju-Jutsu (like Sports Ju-Jutsu mix of Karate, Judo and Aikido), i again see the groundfighting as a problem and also the high kicks.....

    But some moves from old school Jiu-Jitsu/Ju-Jutsu can in my oppion be effective, we have some Jiu-Jitsu moves in Balintawak and Ju-Jutsu Ryus in Bujinkan, they seem effective and have many similarities......

    Its not correct saying a style does not make a difference either, then all styles would be the same....
    They do make a difference and so does the teacher and the student.....

    @jonats...
    Hey jonats, where are you training jiujitsu?

    With regards to your question, if you are practicing brazilian jiujitsu. the situation calls for a one on one fight. Nobody will tell you that you can take out multiple opponents with grappling.

    The reason we train many different things (also some ground fighting) within FMA/Eskrima and Bujinkan is you can never predict a fight, so its good to know as many thing as possible.....

    You seem to limit your self very much within BJJ....

    I enjoy BJJ, I don't look at martial arts as a means of defending myself (although it is a plus) I look at it as a lifestyle to be enjoyed. So i don't see why limiting myself to BJJ is a problem, but i do immerse myself in other arts to a certain extent. I have done wrestling and judo before, just not as much as BJJ. Not that im saying mixing things up is bad, what you do is probably pretty cool too, just that not really my thing if you know what i mean. It's just my take of things. Visit us sometimes, maybe we can cross-train and help each other out. We train almost everyday. Check our site: Deftac Cebu - Gracie Barra Jiujitsu

    I think its fair enough that you enjoy it and that you are honest about it.....
    I also think its fine that what i do is not for you, i never said my style is for everyone, i think its very different what people seek in a style some want sports and others want streetwise and others again insight....

    But i have tried Ju-Jutsu before, around 4-5 years back in Danmark. My teacher was a guy called Carsten Ettrup (5 times Danish Champ and Vice World Champ), i did train with him when he was back in Esbjerg Ju-Jutsu Club (now he is in Copenhagen "CSA") and i am really more into what i do these days then that....
