I need help regarding 5.1 speaker system...

Mga pips, I have been having this problem for over 1 year na, and bisan kinsa ako gipangutana and sa pag research nako sa internet, wala pajud ko kakita ug answer. Perhaps you guys can help me with this...

My mobo model is ASUS P4S8X-X, bagay man daw ni cya 5.1 sound.

Ako gamit speakers ky altec lansing 251, 5.1 ni sya, 5 satellites & 1 subwoofer.

Naa cya switch sa likod sa subwoofer where you can choose 2 channel or 6 channel. According to the manual, ang 6 channel pang surround sound effect jud cya. My problem is, if I choose the 6 channel, ang 2 front speakers ug sub ray mutingog nya dili mutingog ang 2 rear speakers and center speaker. Thats why im using the 2 channel ra nga switch, and because of that, I don't think im maximizing the capability of my speakers.

Please give me advise on this problem. What do I need to buy so that magamit nako ang 6 channel nga switch? Do I need to buy a sound card? Kanang ako mobo wala diay na cya dala nga sound card? Sa ako sound settings ako naman gi customize nga 5.1 system ako gamit. Do I need to buy a dolby digital decoder? Nya wa pudko kabalo unsa jud function anang dolby digital decoder.

When I purchased the speakers, naa cya price with the decoder, nya naa pud cya price without the decoder. Without decoder raako gipalit ky mahal man ang decoder, at that time mga 4k ang decoder.

i think naa mini stereo plug ang para sa rear ug sa center speaker sa Altec, mao na ipaslak sa soundcard kung mag 5.1 ka

Bro darkwing, ang ako nakita sa speakers nako kay.. Naa man wire each of the 5 satellites nya ipang paslak sila tanan sa subwoofer, den ang sub-woofer naa wire nga ipaslak sa likod sa pc in the same way nga ipaslak ang other desktop speakers didto sa paslakanan nga green gani ang color.
Kinahanglan pudko mupalit ug sound card ani?

kun nataud na nimo tanan ang mga plug sa loyo sa pc then kinahanglan pud ka ug dvd nga salida nga 5.1 and iyang audio kay kun dili 5.1 imo gi play then dili na motingog ang center ug duha ka rear

@gtjr_ph, mutingog ra bya pud cya bro... i mean mutingog ra tanan nga speakers bisan vcd, audio cd, mp3, ug games ako gamiton... mag alternate pa gani sila tingog just like it should if surround. pero ambot lang jud ngano 2 front speakers ra mutingog if i choose the 6 channel switch. thanks for your help.

you should consult to your speakers manual, if wala nakay manual ana ad2 sa site sa altec naay pdf ana gi upload

@earlz - yup, na lantaw nanako sa manual bay, gamay ra iya information. Pero ako jud gi-follow tanan instructions sa pag assemble.

@cloud - karn pako ka pangutana sa ako cousin.. yes, naa diay dala nga built-in sound card ako mobo unya 5.1 cya.

check daw sa sound card software, murag naa pa ka i select para ma 6 channel output siya

For sound cards with 5.1 support, i suppose it utilizes the microphone and line in terminal aside from the audio out. This is based in my PC's setting. As for your speaker, check the manual for 6 channel connectivity. I think you need extra cables for the rear and mid speakers.
