Default Partioned vs no partition HHD

For a newbies in computer it is confusing as to whether to use a partitioned against a non-partitioned HHD. The purpose of this post is to give and help understand the newbies to choose between partitioned and without partition HHD.

para sa ako opinion must partition hdd..
PROS: best ang partition kung wala sad ka backup hdd if ever ma virusan imo system drive... mas dali e reformat ang system if imo mga files needed naa sa pikas drive.

    not partition hdd..
CONS: if ever gusto ka mag format sa system, you need to backup all your files to another HDD specially sa mga important docs & etc.

Partitions of your hard drive is like setting up rooms on your HDD. for example you have a 160GB HDD, if you partition it you would have 2 Partitions around 80GB of space...so when you allocate your OS to one of the "rooms" you have on the one room automous or separate from your OS room, meaning to say you can save data files on your separate room, so if your OS room crashes, your data room is unaffected...

    Hope it helps!

sakto si vontech nice man partition kay para naa jud ka separate nga para sa imong os....

if the files you saved on the second partition is accessed frequently, then partitioning degrades performance. example: defragment the two partitions altogether versus no partition and it takes a lot longer for the one with a partition.

    Partitioned HD
    Drive C & Drive D
C: = Where your system files located...
D: = Usually serve as your backup file. for games nga mo run ug drive D, for instalers, and etc.

    Scenario:
Kng ma virusan imong computer, ad2 gyd na cya mo dukot sa imong Drive C so kng mag reformat ka. Ang drive c lang ang ma format so... and naa ra ghpn ang imong files sa D: and its easy for you to recover the system using that saved files. no need to download again and everything. Okies...

^ the infection spreads to the other drive, so useless as a backup against virus infection.

    my opinion:

    Partitioned Drive:
if na virusan and kinahanglan i format ang OS Drive, it's easy and FASTER to recover your backups on the second partition kay same HDD rah man.

    Nonpartitioned Drive:
if na virusan and kinahanglan i format ang OS Drive, it's a hassle and mas DUGAY kay your accessing the backups on another drive and transferring it back to the main drive. mas dugay gyud ni siya.

    GOD Bless!!!

    Purposes for partitioning:

separating the operating system files from user files.

having an area for operating system virtual memory swapping/paging.

keeping frequently used programs and data near each other.

having cache and log files separate from other files. these can change size dynamically and rapidly, potentially making a file system full.

use of multi booting setups, which allow users to have more than one operating system on a single computer. for example, one could install Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows or others on different partitions of the same hard disk and have a choice of booting into any operating system (supported by the hardware) at power-up.

protecting or isolating files, to make it easier to recover a corrupted file system or operating system installation. if one partition is corrupted, none of the other file systems are affected, and the drive's data may still be salvageable. having a separate partition for read-only data also reduces the chances of the file system on this partition becoming corrupted.

raising overall computer performance on systems where smaller file systems are more efficient. for instance, large hard drives with only one NTFS file system typically have a very large sequentially-accessed Master File Table (MFT) and it generally takes more time to read this MFT than the smaller MFTs of smaller partitions.
