Lightbulb How to Completely Disable AUTORUN to avoid viruses from USB to run AUTOMATICALLY

This is very effective against removable drives that contain autorun.inf that automatically executes the virus HIDDEN in your drive. ^_^

Open notepad. and paste this code...

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:000000ff

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\autorun.inf]
    @="@SYS:DoesNotExist"
save it as anything you like as long as the extension is .reg (eg. "disableautorun.reg")

    OR....

you can download the registry file here..... http://www.acemaranga.com/files/DisableAutorun.reg

run it and that's it. (you can check the reg file by right clicking it and choose "edit" or open with notepad. ^_^)

and run it. you'll be asked a yes or no to add the registry keys or not. choose yes.

the first line of the code is the version of the registry editor

2nd line creates/updates your registry to DISABLE AUTOPLAY on all removable drives

3rd line updates your registry to ignore autorun.inf in all drives

since most viruses nowadays are from the USB flashdrive. kung naay autorun.inf sa imo flash drive, mo run na xa sa virus mao na mo trigger nana ug chain reaction.

this only works for windows all versions. ^_^

then prefer jud nako nga anti virus kay AVG Free. weeeeeee

sa ako 8 years na experience about computers, so far wala pako na victima sa mga virus diha. hehe

i disabled autorun from Group Policy editor that comes from Windows XP Pro Edition... Group Policy is the best way....

however there's no Group Policy in Home Edition so I do it manually in the registry...

tan.awa ragud sad na inyo flashdisk kung naa ba autorun.inf. i show hidden files and folders ug show system folders.

halata mn sad sa code nga ang iya gi edit sa registry kay ang drive type autorun ug autorun.inf

basta sure ko effective ni xa kaayo in home PCs ug cafes or any PC nga hilig kaayo tauran ug mga flash disk or even CDs or any removable storage. ^_^
