It all started in a dark, smoke-filled basement at the end of May Street, New Jersey - where the noise found its place, being played on the guitar strings, beaten on the drums and angrily screamed into the mic.
Streets of May first performed over a crowd of thousands during the 2006 Filipino Independence Day Parade held at Washington Park, New York. Jaws dropped as the band of six took the stage, stirring up the crowd as soon as the first chords were hit and bowed out with the applause onlookers. Streets of May left their mark.
On July 2006, the band played for the first time in Cebu at Club Vudu and Handuraw along side great Cebuano bands. The band then went to Manila, sharing the stage with Slapshock at SM Dasmariņas. The next day, they played at the legendary Mayric's bar - where alot of famous artists frequent.
When they got back to the US, they were invited to play at Bistro San Miguel in New Jersey. There, they performed the songs "Blind Disease", "You're Hated" and "Welcome to the Sun".
Streets of May later created powerful and melodic songs "Anatma", "Restless Imprisonment" and "Liars, Lies and Sunken Eyes". These songs showcased the bands anger and their ability to evolve. The guitar riffs got brutal, the drum beats deadlier, the bass lines heavier and the vocals more intense. The once dark basement unleashed the band's feral impulses with its newfound power.
Three years since the band started performing, they haven't lost their bite. Streets of May's music grows heavier and more complex as the band added tribal beats into the songs.
Streets of May's ability to bring out the raw emotions into the light and connect with the audience inspired them to create "Sink" and "My Salvation".
Some of their performance include opening for Bamboo and The Kitty Girls at SM City Cebu and Singapore's Hardcore band Sideline at Club Nuvo and were a guest band for Red Horse Musiklaban at MEZ1 and USC's Gadja 2008 at the University of San Carlos Girls High. They have played at The Hideout, Gaisano Fiesta Mall, Zzubo Rock Bar, Sugar Beach at Bantayan Island, The Outpost, Boss Grill, The University of San Carlos Technological Center, SM City Cebu Entertainment Center, Paseo, Urban Hive, Kukuk's Nest in Cebu. They also performed at Mango Square Mall and A-Mall during the 2009 Sinulog.
