Blink-182 back together again
It's official – Blink-182 is back together again.
The group hinted at a bona fide reunion onstage at the Grammy Awards Sunday night after weeks of swirling rumors.
"We used to play music together, and we decided to play music together once again," said drummer Travis Barker, who appeared onstage wearing an arm sling.
The trio took the stage at the Grammys to present the Best Rock Album award to Brit rockers Coldplay. They later confirmed their plans to reunite in a statement issued after the ceremony.
"This past week there've been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We're back," the statement said.
"We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy."
So when can fans expect the new material? According to their memo it's coming as soon as summer 2009.
The band has been on hiatus since February 2005 – and its members have been through a lot in the interim years. Most notably Barker was in a near-fatal plane crash in November 2008.
A new album would be the group's first sine the 2003 "blink-182."
