I stumbled on this short film on youtube entitled 'Tatlong Bisaya' written and directed by Marius Talampas.
The story was about three bisaya who were on their way home from a friend's party when they were confronted by two military men who were rumored to be 'bisaya-killers'. They wouldn't have encountered these people if they were aware of the curfew in the area. One of them suggested that they just spend the night at their friend's house and go home the morning after but instead, they tried to get pass the military men which they failed to do so.
Without prejudices, I thought the film was well-made; there were no dragging parts and the actors were good. But I can't dismiss the fact that it's reinforcing the idea that Bisaya speak rough english and are feeble-minded people.
What hurts me the most were the comments I read on the video. There were comments that were just too harsh.
I thought if I would just let them be, wouldn't it create a false impression on us? Although, some of their comments were true, they tend to generalize it ONLY on us. They was their hands like they have nothing to do with prostitution, corruption, etc.
Hurt jud ko..
I have friends who are in the Luzon area and they do not act this way.
