    share lang ko:

be careful with those medical transcription companies who offer free training kai kamo ra gi ilad ana. free training lagi, pero once mahuman mo sa training, inyo minimum wage salary dili jud mosaka. or kun mosaka man mga less than 30 pesos ra cguro!

dako jud ug kita ang medical transcription IF u have ur own clients. kana mga home-based transcriptionists dagko jud ug kita, pero kana naa sa mga companies (though dili siguro tanan, pero wa pa jd ko nakahibaw ug company na confirmed jud na mo offer ug dagko na sweldo, which is unta angay ra for a medical transcriptionist), nevermind nalang. bisan underwear na arangan lang ang brand maglisod pa kag palit! and samot pa jud if mawagtangan ug clients ang company, i-shorten nalang inyo working days to 5 days instead of 6, so inyo salary na gamay ra kaayo, minusan pa jud!

kana employed sa call centers, they get around 10k up right? with allowances pa ++. but ang mga medical transcriptionists who does nothing but familiarize everything there is to know about medicine and sits all day facing the glaring computer screen and listening to audio recordings of pakistani, indian, chinese, japanese doctors/dictators na kun ordinaryo lang ka nga naminaw bisan usa ka word wa ka masabtan and then the company wud demand 98% accuracy of ur transcribed report, gets a meager 5k below for trainees and 10k below for regulars. (salary based on one company, actually 2 ra ako nahibaw-an na operational med trans companies here in cebu) and yes free carpal tunnel syndrome, loss of hearing, and not to mention poor eyesight!

believe it or not, ang salary sa med trans trainee sa usa ka company (di lang nato i divulge) here in cebu is 223/day (minusan pa na ug tax ha!), so do the math! once ma regular (kuno) ka, mo raise imo salary to an amazing 250/day! so do the math again. apila nalang sad pagcompute ug pila ang raise, di kailangan ug calculator noh?heheheh

naa usa ka company arangan nalang kai 10k daw per month, though wa ko kahibaw kun mao na na ang salary sa trainee or kun sa regular na na.

kanang MTC, ISMT ambot ana nila. as far as i know, schools na sila for those who wants to be medical transcriptionists. tapos, once you graduate, they will help you find clients? or they will help you land a transcription job? sort of in-ana ang style nila. lagi, mahal man sad ang tuition noh...

well, as what people always say, maayo nalang kaysa wala!

Hmmm.... let me explain the 75k bit.

I went to one of their free seminars. You can go there yourself to be oriented about their course and what it means to become an MT.

Or if you don't want to spend an hour listening, you can just read their posters outside their lecture rooms. You can get a clear picture there of your career path as an MT as well as salary.

You may want to ready the comic of MTMan on their walls as well.

Or you can also go to their site MTCAcademy.com

btw, I'm not promoting MTC. Just explaining what I learned.

    ok, for those interested:

    What is an MT?

----in a nutshell, you transcribe what you hear from a recording into lines( 1 line = 1 line of text in a Word document).

    What are these recodings?

---these are from doctors, nurses, etc who don't have the time to do the transcription job as required by a new law in the US. They record their reports and upload them in the internet for MTs to transcribe.

MTC Academy course, what about it?

----There are different course for different people. They enroll you to become familiar with Mediacal Jargons, reporting, etc. Course duration is dependent on your finished course. For non-medical course that's 6months. visit their site for more info.

    75k a month??

--well you don't get that right away. In their posters, it's actually earn UP TO 75k per month.
That depends on your output and if you are working homebase.

Basically after you graduate from MTC (their courses already includes OJT) they sign your name to their databse where their clients can view your profile and hire you. According to them around 90-95% of their graduates get hired within a month after graduation.

Anyway, they recommend you work at least 6 months for experience as a company-based MT before going homebase. Working as a company-based MT gets you up to around 8k-12k for a junior MT something(sorry i forgot the term).

It is in the homebase program where you get the big bucks since you get your clients on your own. And clients pay you in dollars. MT's in the US pay around $20-40 in the high range and $8-10 on the low range per hour rate.

    Age Limit?

---None actually but statistics show that most MTs are around 40 years old.
As long as you can hear properly and type fast.
Of course accuracy is important as well. THey train you to do 300-500 lines within the course duration with 90-95% accuracy.
