local warranty from retail stores is only one year, and after that wala na, now this one is 3 yrs international so as long as there's WD distributor within the place, you can claim you're warranty. Because portable drives are intended to be carried(I'm talking multiple regions/country) as back-up (I am presuming one is using it for productivity reasons), so if ever mag ka problema ka, and wala ka sa cebu rest asure you'll still get support.

I just checked with buffalo's site ( http://www.buffalotech.com/files/Sto...0Statement.pdf ) and their warranty is only 1 year. [Kindly correct me if I'm wrong]

No offense, but I rely WD more than buffalo as a better brand.
