    pasagda-e lang na bro,

    sa XP system na siya,

    pinutol nga article :

We now have two types of memory; random access memory (RAM) and virtual memory, or the page file. The page file is created during the Windows XP installation and resides on the hard drive. Page files are measured in megabytes. The size of the page file is based on how much RAM is installed in the computer. By default, XP creates a page file which is 1.5 times the amount of installed RAM and places it on the hard drive where XP is installed. Other than plugging the RAM into the motherboard, there is little than can be done to alter its performance characteristics. The page file is a different story. Because it's located on a hard drive, it's subject to a number of factors that can hinder its performance.

here's my explanation, I'll do it brief and easy for you...

    Unsa man nang PAGEFILE.SYS?

Pagefile.sys ---> is a file created when you use or active virtual memory in your Windows XP (Take note that this is default after you install Windows XP), OS call this as "PAGE FILE" or "PAGING FILE"

    PARA ASA MAN DIAY NI?

If your OS runs out of memory, it uses Virtual Memory (storing data's temporarily on your HARD DISK) so to free more spaces in your Physical Memory that needed to use in running other applications.

PILA MAN LIMIT ANI SA FILESIZE ASA MAKITA ANG SETTINGS?

    1. Right click your My Computer
    2. click Properties
    3. go to ADVANCE tab
    4. click PERFORMANCE
    5. click ADVANCE
    6. on below you can see "Virtual Memory"
    7. click "Change"

    PWEDE BA NAKO E-DISABLE?

Yes... but make sure you have good amount of Physical Memory, long time ago when Windows XP developed they want to be compatible in older PC's, thus this solve the problem if you have 512MB of RAM or less, but not all the time.

ASK ME: GI-DISABLE BA NIMO SA IMONG PC?

Yes... I disable this to almost all of worstation under my control... having 1GB-2GB or more... Coz Windows XP is so dumb to know when to use PAGING... this is one of the reason of SLOW PC Performance and Illegal operation of Applications... and also, using Physical Memory is faster than writing in on Harddisk, loading it back to memory and later use it again.

    UNSAON PAG DISABLE?

check the "NO PAGING FILE" click "SET" and then "OK"... restart your PC and check it again.

the recycler and system volume info are hidden important files that contain the info of the hard driver or partition, dont worry about it ive got all of it too and it doesnt affect anything

You can also optimize the paging file if you want.
