Razer vs. Ideazon--Gaming Keyboard Slapdown
MERC Stealth
Razer Tarantula
Head to Head
Conclusion:
So Who Wins the Slapdown?
Well, if you looked at the rating for each keyboard on the previous two pages, you will see that the MERC Stealth got a higher score. Does that mean that you should run off to buy the Stealth right away, or completely disregard the Tarantula as an inferior product? Nope. The MERC Stealth was just the keyboard that we like more, but each keyboard has a place for a different type of user. FPS gamers should not pass up the Stealth. RTS and MMORPG gamers might find the Tarantula to be more practical, even though the Stealth has macro capabilities.
We liked the MERC Stealth more because of its improved WASD gaming terrain, macro abilities, and backlit keys. It's a sweet ride at night, and other things like 2.0 USB ports are handy to have around as well. The Tarantula doesn't have any rearrangement of keys to enhance gameplay. It does have dedicated macro keys, solid tactile response, and a sexy design. It won't light up at night, except for the macro keys, so it won't put on a light show for you.
We also prefer the software of the MERC Stealth over the Tarantula's. It's a bigger and user-friendlier interface, and it has many options for remapping and recording different keys. Both keyboards are definitely among the top in their category, but the slapdown crown has to go to the MERC Stealth for its keyboard layout and backlighting....
