Default Education system in our country

Now that our country is experiencing terrible problem in education system, what as a person/student can you advice / contribute to the education sector department? what is still lacking here in our country?

Even if there are programs from the government that we are now to upgrade its system, not to mention the training programs that has been given to the high school teachers in the two considered majors subjects, Math and Science and the right usage of English language.

News now said that DepEd is asking for the support of the business sector in helping in the modernization and upgrading of the education system here, they believed that through the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Adopt-a-School program, in partnership with the community and other education stakeholders, we can improve the system.

Coming from the most concern sector of the Education, what else can we do to improve education?

^Why do we have to leave when we can contribute?

    Let's not be pessimistic here.

Otherwise, we will really lead to nowhere. What we need right now is an optimistic view that we can cope up with the fast pace of life that we have.

The gov't has initiated the ladderized education system. Its difference from the traditional education system is that in the latter, one first has to complete a four or five year course before he can get his college degree, and if for some reason he is obliged to drop out, he can no longer use his already acquired learning to land jobs that are only given to college degree holders. The ladderized system enhances employability by combining formal and non-formal education and training including experience-acquired learning and skills through the mechanisms of equivalency and accreditation.

TESDA and CHED have initially agreed on two implementation modes of ladderized education through (1) Credit Transfer and (2) Embedded TVET qualification in ladderized degree programs. Credit transfer is recognition and carrying forward of overlapping learning from TVET to higher education. Embedded TVET qualification is the process by which a student in a ladderized degree program can earn full TVET qualifications should the student choose to exit from college program and proceed to a technical-vocational career.

For school year 2006-2007, ladderized education shall be implemented by authorized institutions in eight disciplines: (1) Agriculture; (2) Health; (3) Maritime; (4) Tourism; (5) Information Technology; (6) Engineering; (7) Criminology; and ( Education. TESDA and CHED worked together to map out competencies in these programs and developed the credit matrix as well as the authorized curricula in the identified TVET and degree programs.

More than 200 institutions have signified their interest and 75 have already been issued authorization by TESDA and CHED to offer ladderized programs. Certificates of Recognition will be awarded to the 75 pioneering institutions by the President. Those interested to know more about institutions offering ladderized programs are advised to coordinate with the TESDA and CHED Offices nearest their area.

Unbeknownst to many, DepEd is one of the almost budget-deprived government unit. Instead of MAJORLY focusing on tourism, I think it's best for our government to allot larger sums for DepEd's budget. Public schools, especially in the rural areas, are most greatly affected by the lack of enough funds and our poor youth are struggling to get the quality education that we all aspired for are left with outdated books and facilities.
