They say the Chinese work ethic is summed up this way:
MO HAD WOK!
Describe your work ethic.
Mine is "not traditional, almost irreverent." tapulan kaha ko? tell you later.

is the traditional work ethic of "work long and hard" still relevant?
unpaid overtime hours are not appreciated.
going the extra mile is expected (for no added compensation whatsoever)
loyalty from employees is considered a virtue; that from the company/employers is not talked about
"work is your life" mentality is promoted; personal life not considered
low pay for just about any kind of work
mao ni ang work ethic nga gina expect from employees. is it really worth it? does our work ethic bring us the success and happiness we so desire? the more we work, the sicker we get lagi, so in a way we are trying to earn the money that will just fuel our unhealthy habits.
It's no longer working long and hard for employers, but WORKING SMART for ONESELF. You just cannot hand the reigns of your economic life to your company or employers. no way.
