About Videocard scoring on 3dmark06 scoring.

Made some reviews. Char... lols

Naga Wonder lng ko if Overclocking my GPU would get me big scores. I mean sa GPU palng kung ilan talga makuha ko score with out the cpu high OC. hmmm... ma test nga...-hmm

Objectives:
Compare Scores for Stock GPU settings and O.C GPU settings.

My CPU Mobo and Mems test settings.

Cpu: Q6600 @ 3.2ghz 1.25vcore
Mobo: P5Q with PCI-e 2.0ver
Mems: DDR2 1080 Timings 5-5-5-15 2.2v
PSU: HEC zephyr 750watts w/ 2x6pin for vcard.

GPU to be tested:
Inno3d 9800GTX 512mb 256bit G92
note: Gpu lng e tweak ko. other than that... wala na.

The Test:
9800GTX Stock settings

GPU Clock: 675mhz
Memory Clock: 1100mhz
Shader Clock: 1688mhz
Fanspeed: 60%

Stock test Results: Score 13,971
3DMark06 elapsed time (real time stop watch): 6:40:26


9800GTX OC settings

GPU Clock: 780mhz
Memory Clock: 1250mhz
Shader Clock: 1950mhz
Fanspeed: 100%

OC test Results: Score 15,210
3DMark06 elapsed time (real time stop watch): 6:40:11


Sumary:

Test 1 (Stock): 13,971
Test 2 (O.C): 15,210
GPU O.C Score gain: 1,239

As you can see. Hindi talga gano ka taas ang OC scoring ng GPU with out the high OC ng CPU. If your thinking OCing only my GPU would get me 2k to 3k plus w/o OCing my CPU. think again. it won't do good. kung Higher OC ng CPU mo. Higher FPS dn makuha mo sa GPU which means far more better scoring ng 3dmark06 bench. yan na yung aabot ng 2k to 4k add ups.

So I conclude/IMO kung mag aim ka ng high scores sa 3dmark06 tweak more ka talga sa cpu. kung hangang saan lng talga kaya ng tweak ng gpu. doon lng talga vcard mo.-_- ouch... get the best proc and mobo you can find. para tataas ang makaya mo ma OC. which means getting kickass scores. weeee ^_^

Stock Gpu settings with Q6600 3.2ghz - 13,971
OC Gpu settings with Q6600 3.6ghz - 17,054

Add up score: 3,083 (compare sa 1,239)

You can actually determine how much gain you have when you OC your CPU by checking your CPU score.
you can also determine how much gain you have on your GPU by looking at the SM3.0 and the SM2.0 scores.

yep... i just pointed out that. ocing only your vcard. won't get much big scores on 3dmark06. but ocing your cpu would increase your scores. by higher cpu clock you can get higher fps on your gpu. This is the purpose of this research. To determine how gpu reacts with Hi CPU Clock. Even if your gpu is on stock settings but your CPU is on higher clock (OC). you can still get hi FPS.

i also experience the same thing...not much gain on O'cing the GPU on 3DMark06.
but on some games a higher GPU clock can be better.
