A website designed all in Flash is cool, good for most. But not compared to the traditional HTML/CSS designed sites..

Flash is the most overrated POS ever invented. It's great when used right, but everyone does all Flash sites and just leaves it at that with no thought about validation, accessibility and size. Flash is so 90s. I am impressed however with devs that mix flash and good old validating site design. Considering that you can do wonders with pure CSS, flash only really lives in a small corner of the web and in the portfolios of developers who cannot adapt or those who have clients that don't know better.

    Totally agree...

You can do wonders with flash if you're aiming for clients who are looking for the aesthetics side of the web and those with high bandwidth. While flash is indeed more entertaining and nice to look at, it is slow in loading and usually turns off clients who seek information fast in the most presentable way. That's where HTML/CSS comes in.

Me too. A good dose of html/css layouting with a touch of Flash should be ok, even for a corporate site.

I am not impressed with sites that are made entirely of Flash. While it has advantages against the standard layouting of html/css, it has more disadvantages compared to the latter.

That would be great if naa mo HTML and FLASH version sa inyong site. But this needs a splash page for the user to select which version. If you're designing a corporate site, like for example communications/software businesses, a splash page is a no-no.

It's useless, the necessary information is not displayed right away. It's also not good for Search Engine indexing, if SEO should be observed. A splash page is informal and could possibly turn off some clients.

Another disadvantage would be, time consuming. Creating an HTML version AND a FLASH version takes a lot of time and effort, most especially if you're time-pressured and have demanding customers.

I suggest you should stick to basic html layouting and minimal flash.

Yup. It all depends on what your customer wants.

If he wants an attractive, more appealing site, then introduce him to Flash. If he wants a more formal, professional-looking and a more corporate feel, then static html should be most suited.

IBM.com for example. Simple, good balance of colors and aesthetics, less/no flash.
2advanced.com for swirling, moving, dazzling eye candy...

If you know the 2 technologies, then mix 'em up. Combine both Flash and Html, observe the loading and data presentation. If all goes well, then you have one satisfied customer, looking forward to your next assignment/project.
