any idea how to prevent record locking in a database shared over LAN. can MS-ACCESS support this case? i do this b4 but the server vb program must be first CLOSED before the client manage to UPDATE DATABASE RECORDS.

I'm not sure if MS-Access is designed to handle simultaneous updates. You might want to explore PostgreSQL and MySQL and read about transactions.

but i've seen network app w/ ms access as database backend . it does support dbase multi tasking it only encounter err when the database server is use by the server machine.

Try to change ur locktype to adopenstatic or adopenkeyset....mo process deadlock na siya if dynamic imo gamit over lan setup...

i alwaysl use adopenkeyset but work the same.
