Yes, sure, but it downscale the signal to 720p (to its native resolution)...
I have also in my bedroom a JVC LCD TV, 720p, and can feed it with 1080p.
The resolution of the panel is 1366 x 768 pixels, so its 720i/p.
Does anyway not matter, except you would use a 1080p source like ps3 or blueray player...
For DVD its more than good enough, and for TV, its even too good... with our lousy cable TV we have in the Philippines.
Anyway, the price is nice! And that counts. I paid more for mine. Unfortunately, I saw your post too late.

Yes, that's correct. It accept a 1080i source, but it will downscale it to the native resolution. That's always the case.
For best picture, you should set the DVD player to the native resolution of the LCD TV, so that no scaling will occur.
