do you have the pre-installed norton on it?
in my case, the first day i got my vista machine, i had to uninstall norton and turned off windows firewall.
try that and see what happens.

mao jud use 1 anti virus lang bro basin mao na problem nanu cge ka dc imo connection
i don't think having 2 AV's is a bad idea. AV's are very specific to what malicious software they can remove right? and some AV's can remove a specific threat while others can't. If you have a back-up, IMHO, that's way better.
