Question What if taxes imposed on oils will be abolished?

I've seen the news on TV regarding some of the reasons why oil is priced too high in our country. As per SGV Corp 11-12% goes to taxes & duties when the oil is imported in Philippines. And when the oil is being transported another 3% tax for that. And on top of those, our government imposed another tax known as VAT w/c is another 12% everytime consumers buy the product.

So what do u think if the taxex will be abolished? do you think it would be beneficial for us consumers?

not to totally abolished, but bisan i-reduce lng. i think our gov't still need those tax. kanang VAT, dha ra jud na, ky its part of the condition sa atong creditors, like world bank - imf, or jpia or adb. our gov't is not that ready pa jud to totally abolish oil taxes.

for me, if we say taxes lang, especially e-vat, abolish jud ni kay sa una non-vat man gud ni sa una nga wala pa ning expanded e-vat... dili lang mga gasoline, oil, etc... dapat unsa tong mga non-vat or vat-exempt items/ services, excluded na sa e-vat....

impossible to do away with the taxes or even lessen it... the gov't needs the funds gyud although corrupt lang... it will be worse if suddenly mu gamay ang revenues sa government. this is not the time to lessen the taxes. during the good times dapat unta....

indeed! this is what i mean.. i still can remember there were item/services w/c are non-taxable and so far okay raman kaau ang dagan sa panaliton ug ang face value sa atong kwarta makasuffice ra sa needs sa usa ka ordinaryong pamilya!

if only government could take a sacrifice for a moment like what Pres. Bush did to some states in US during crisis, i guess it would greatly affect masses! Ang services sa gov't are very poor then why do we keep on shouldering those taxes anyway?

If you do a google search about our e-Vat, it's what's actually helping us stay afloat during this crisis. It's not a given na if walaon ang tax, muubos ang prices sa gas. The current gas prices are controlled by supply and demand. If gas goes down, demand goes up, as so will the prices either maintain or even increase...
