    Default Invetory System

    Help..

Halu pipol. I'm trying to write a simple inventory system here in my office. Problem #1 is: we are not allowed by the Systems/IT Department to create/write any system applications even if it's for work use. We can't simply request them to create it for us basically because we (our project department) are going to be charged for the development cost (and we don't have a budget yet). I myself is a programmer, I mean.. I can create programs. But I am not a programmer here, I am just a regular project staff. I have made an inventory system in here before out of MS Excel and MS Access using VBA and been using it here for quite some time until another problem came up: Problem #2, they removed all MS Office suites and replaced it with OpenOffice.org. Worst, some functionality of OOo are in a mess, especially the macros. They (Sys/IT Dept) disabled it on purpose! Damn.. Now what should I do.. (I want to create the system myself)

Anyone knows any help please drop a line here..

    Thanks..

Nope, installation of any apps is restricted. I have already dealt with VBS and WSH. But the problem is, both lack the ability to create GUIs, which are greatly needed for this kind of system.. or I could be wrong..

Naa nko nakit-an paagi. Don't know if mabuhat ba jud nako ang expected nko nga gusto. I am now using HTA or HTML Applications, worked same as (actually they are) VBS and WSH, but are more effective in terms of GUI............

if your really into it, then i guess the best thing to do is to resign and apply as a programmer or data architect. you cant just do something that would violate company policies, even if you think that it will do some good.

secondly, you'll be tagged as a show-off, and you dont want that. if you really have it in you, and your confident enough, like your far better than those people in sysdept, then go seek for much greener pasteur.
