I got a hard drive that doesn't accept windows installation but it works fine with Linux

I believe you first have to understand the question you are asking. Windows has multiple filesystems, Linux has a ton more, and so does the Mac.

Sorry for not being clear about the word default, in my question, default file system? I should have used the word recommended instead of default, when installing an OS. In Linux it is usually ext3 depending on the distribution and ntfs in Windows. I haven't installed a Mac yet so any feedback from an experienced Mac user will be appreciated.
