If you want authentic Thai food, go to Thailand and find them on the street. Insofar I am concerned, the best Thai food in Thailand is in the street. Sokomvit (sounds like this) is one place you can have real nice good Thai food. And Thai food gets better and better the higher you go North; for example, you can savor the best of Thai food in Chiang Mai's night market or in the outskirts of Ubon Province, near the Cambodian border.
Sukhumvit Road is a very long road with a lot of foods there including Thai amazing Foods consisting of grasshoppers, water beetle, Cicada, baby frogs, silk worms and includes ants too.
Add the "tuko" --- gecko --- offered in Ubon Province plus that mind-swirling mushroom, both grilled. For the fastood type of Thai food, you might want to drop at the food courts of Central Market, quite omnipresent in Bangkok.
