Default Undervolting 101. Quiet, Cool and Longer Living Processors

    Check this out:
    http://www.nordichardware.com/Articl...lse=465&page=4
    Download:
    http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml

My notebook before had 47-48 degrees idle temperature karon 34-35 degrees nalang. 65-66 degrees load temperature karon 54-55 degrees nalang using CoreTemp

    Pros:
    1. Dili mag cge og on akong fans or they are always in super low RPMs kay ang thermal threshhold sa akong processor wala pa na abot.
    2. Di na halos mu init akong laptop.
    3. After hours of playing World of Warcraft, naa ra gyud sa 54-55 degrees akong Core temp.
    4. Less heat = longer lifespan sa device

    Cons:
    1. Experiment sa stable voltage sa imong processor to avoid an unstable system. If makuha na nimo ang sakto ngavoltage, payter na!

Dont worry about your processors they won't get damaged, Intel and AMD undervolt their processors all the time.
Personal experience lang ni, I thought I might share this for people who are having heat problems and those na gusto lang mag maintain sa ilang notebooks/desktops.
This applies to notebooks and desktops alike, ang example lang I used a notebook kay wala koy desktop ma testingan ni ulbo ang video card

@Mods: Pa sticky lang ni if you think this will benefit the community. Thanks

    Cheers

i didnt read the links pero from what i know, cool & quiet and speedstep automatically undervolts your cpu, thus lowering the clock speed and power consumption. you only have to turn those features on sa bios. maayo ra cguro nang manual undervolting for older cpus like pentium 4/athlon xp

Yes, SPD can be turned on in the bios, but need to be turned off for overclocking...

And, I really do not care if my processor lives for 20 years or just for 10 after overclocking...

me too. because pinakadugay nga nakastay sa akoa ang isa ka part is just 1yr+. di jud kaabot og 2yrs coz things will get obsolete and i don't want to be left behind.
also, my mindset is that a computer should only last a year and should be upgraded. hehehehe.

Speedstep says lowering the multiplier of the FSB. So on idle or low performance demand applications, your CPU actually processes lower than its specified core clock.
My laptop has no bios settings for that, so I tried this software undervolting and it actually works.
