Default Windows Vista a reason to buy ECC memory?

Chicago (IL) - Microsoft confirmed to TG Daily that it will "encourage" system builders to use Error Checking and Correction (ECC) memory modules for Vista computers - rather than the standard DDR devices common in desktop and notebook computers today..

DX 10 won't arrive on the first Windows Vista version.. DX10 is slated to come to Vista on 2009.. still a long way off.

encourage, require, recommend.. to SYSTEM BUILDERS/PARTNERS and that means big companies like IBM, DELL, GATEWAY, HP etc.. if you don't belong in the equation then just wait until they iron out the kinks of the said product. i won't even have to worry if i would only use PC apps like "word and excel" like what @firebasefury was alluding to. there's no need to use the word "stupid" if that's what you'll just do with your pc in the next 5 yrs.

besides, it would take 6-8 months before these type of technology trickles into our shores after MS introduces it to the market. that's ample time to weed out the pros and cons or what have you of the said product before deciding to purchase it. why worry about it if each (istoryans on this forum) of our systems are capable of doing apps that we need to do. why upgrade if it's unnecessary?
