    Default Wired or Wireless

I am currently working in one of the 4 star hotels here in Cebu and one of my priority projects for this year (200 is to have our Rooms wifi connected. We already have 4 WIFI AP's for public areas and these includes Ground Floor, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Floor using CISCO 802.11ag LWAPP AP's. For our rooms, we already have Modular Box (w/ I/O for data & voice).

These are just some of the things that I need to reconsider:

    1. For convenience purposes, WIFI is the answer of course...but as far as speed is concern its just exactly the same.

    2. For a more reliable and consistent connection, personally I will go wired...

But for you out there... Which do you prefer WIFI or Wired?

Any suggestions, comments, violent reactions...hehehe...joke. will be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance...

angay ra sa wireless kay mga laptops kay mobile man

kong sa desktop, mag wireless ka, ang ang man sad dal.on dal.on imong desktop bisag asa

its all about knowing the requirements sa bznz

so wired nalang cguro sa rms

I definitely won't recommend wireless for the rooms. Reliability wise, it won't be a hundred percent for all the rooms to have a wifi connection since the walls are usually thick. And if you rili want to cover all the rooms, you would need more AP's than needed, which eventually won't be cost effective, not to mention the possibility of having too many complains from the customers.

But still, if you really want to check try it out... try doing a site survey. Just install a temporary AP, and get in each room and check if you can receive any signal. Take note, you have to close the doors when doing so.

For anyone who has deployed AP for the rooms in a hotel successfully, please post your design.. it will greatly help everyone here.

If you can afford tearing up walls and running wire, through the wire is always preferred.
