Default New Closeup Images of Saturn's Ice Moon Enceladus

Taken from the official NASA Cassini website, I resized them for iStorya image display standards for your immediate and instant viewing pleasure

The Cassini probe "dived" into the northern atmosphere of Enceladus a few hours ago and took these great images...

That really roughly ridged area (murag ribbed condom hihihi) is called Samarkand Sulci...

The two overlapping twin craters of Ali Baba and Aladdin

Same as the Samarkand, the "leading hemisphere terrain" features a ribbed surface here...

The original large image can be viewed/downloaded here:

This only goes to show that, technology permits us to have an increasing appreciation for heavenly bodies we always thought to be "boring" and "dili interesting"...wait until we get to land a spaceship here one day...let's see if it's not interesting hihihi

sorry but how come this is current events? technologically perhaps?

anyways, thanks for the info. nice pics!!! this reminds me of that USC AstroSoc many years ago. i hope that club still exists today. i wasnt able to join them because of time constraints as a student. AFAIK, they have these star gazing activities way back at the time of that comet thingy ( i forgot the name) and those solar & lunar eclipses...

It is a current event--Cassini is still in the process of taking more shots as I type this down. Does "current events" mean only things that happen in Cebu, the Philippines or on the planet Earth? If so, I request the topic moved, if not, then let it remain a current event for it is a current event. Thank you.

Karon dili, but in the future it is a possibility. Mao gani magpadala ta ug probe didto para subayon kung pwede ba puy-an (even though solar heat is feeble there, geothermal heat is always a possible source of "livable" warmth, as shown in Jovian moons). Don't tell me NASA spends all those billions of dollars just to take pretty pictures.

I feel bad about posting this hinoon, murag ang mga tawo diri concerned lang sa "immediate future" or "happenings in Cebu, Philippines/locality". I'm try to show that neat things are happening elsewhere, pero murag wala'y paki man diay mga tawo diri. Sorry nalang for sharing.

    @ Rodsky

Hmmm just heard about this. Also read about the weird craters on mercury that were filled with what looked like ice. I know, weird...

Dili "ice moon" ang name. The name of the moon is Enceladus. Like most of Saturn's moons, it is frozen, being over a billion kilometers away from the Earth. The "ice" is not necessarily water ice--there are some traces of water but that's exactly why Cassini is investigating it--to find out if water ice is predominant on Enceladus.
