    1. As much as possible AVOID electrostatic discharge into the boards circuitry. Careless handling can cause irreversible damage to boards chips due to
    the discharge..

    - to avoid ESD (electrostatic discharge), ground yourself first before touching the board. Easiest way is to touch the motherboards chassis
    while installing the motherboard

    2. DO NOT update your BIOS if you're not technically competent to do so.

    2. DO NOT clear CMOS while your system is turned on. Its recommended to unplug your system before doing so.

    3. DO NOT power on unless cards have been properly seated in their slots. This includes your RAM modules.

    4. DO NOT detach any devices from your motherboard while system is ON. Whether its a cable or not.
Exception: USB Devices, they are designed specifically for that. But its still recommended you STOP the device before unplugging it from the port.

    5. As much as POSSIBLE do not OverClock your system, unless you are ready to spend some more for OC troubles.

Some things that shows you have something wrong with your motherboard:

    1. Bulging capacitors.
    2. CMOS checksum error that doesn't go off after replacing CMOS battery.
    3. Random RESTARTING.
    4. Power On Self Test (POST) hang-ups.

ang esd diha sa pinas dili kaayo problema.. di pareho sa ubang nasud nga inig abli nimo sa pultahan sa awto ma kuryentehan ka sa discharge.......

as much as possible, turn on automatic over temperature/fan failure shutdown in you bios.
use good power supply. when your generic power supply blows up, you don't know what it takes with it.....

    ^^based on my drunk opinion....

    6. Get Rid of Dust

One of the most common causes of overheating is dust and dirt. So you need to keep your system clean, inside and out. Try to clean it once a year using lint-free wipes. Make sure you use an antistatic wrist strap as well to protect your system when cleaning inside the case.

    7. Get Power Protection

One of the saddest things in many PCs is that they are not surge protected. Surge protectors are a good investment - they protect your PC from that unfortunate power outage or lightning strike. Try to get one that has a warning indicator and is UL 1449 certified.

    8. Check the CMOS battery

If you have a very old PC (four or five years old), the CMOS battery on the motherboard may need to be replaced. The first sign of a bad CMOS battery is when your system clock starts losing time.

    9. Take Care when Opening the Case

Whenever you open the PC case, turn off the power and unplug your PC. Ground yourself first - by touching anything inside the PC to avoid destroying your circuit boards with a static charge. Another option is to wear a grounding wrist strap.

CMOS batteries generally last for two to three years, although some (especially the lithium type) have been known to last much longer, dont know exactly pila ka years but maybe another 2 years. Ironically, the less you use your computer, the faster the CMOS battery will run out. This is because when your computer is turned off the battery begins to function.
